It was just plain fun to paint this. It was so small that I didn't need an easel and I could carry it around with me and check the colors out in different lights. I had brought in the last of my patio tomatoes in November. They were only about one and a half inches across, and both of them were vivid green. About the time I decided to paint them (full-size!), the right one had acquired a slight reddishness at the bottom from sitting in the window. By the time I finished painting them, the left one was beginning to get pink at the bottom. I put a slice of a regular-size tomato in front to show how tiny these babies were. |
